Minis in a shallow basket
A low basket groups four minis without turning them into a piled mound.
One blue-grey pumpkin and two pale minis make a low indoor group.
The blue-grey fruit supplies the cool tone, while the pale minis and cloth soften the contrast. Avoid introducing a fourth material or strong color.
Keep cloth loose enough to lift and dry. It should support the composition rather than wrap the pumpkins.
Lay a washable cloth on the table without loose edges in the walkway.
Set the blue-grey pumpkin towards the back on its broadest stable base.
Place two white minis in front, with a little asymmetry.
Fold the spare cloth loosely to one side rather than packing it around the fruit.
Lift the fruit and cloth periodically to check for moisture.
A pale tan pumpkin can replace the blue-grey fruit.
Use an existing cloth; the texture matters more than a specific fabric brand.
Keep the display sheltered and away from direct sun. Check for soft spots, leakage and unstable placement. Remove damaged fruit promptly; painted or carved display fruit is not for eating.
