The little doorstep
Three pumpkins, one pot and enough breathing room to let every shape stand out.
A white and green group stands out against a dark entrance.
The dark background gives pale fruit a clear outline, so extra height and saturated accessories are unnecessary.
Check the group from the path and from inside the doorway. It needs to look balanced from both directions without narrowing access.
Open the door and identify the corner outside its swing.
Place the medium white pumpkin at the back on a dry mat.
Add a small green pumpkin slightly forward and a white mini to one side.
Keep the grouping low and the stems visible.
Open the door again and walk past with a bag before finalising the position.
Use two smaller pale pumpkins if a medium white fruit is too large.
Move the group indoors if the corner catches rain or narrows the route.
Keep the display sheltered and away from direct sun. Check for soft spots, leakage and unstable placement. Remove damaged fruit promptly; painted or carved display fruit is not for eating.
